Product Reviews

Name: Review:
I've reorganized the review to make it sound different from the original while maintaining its overall content and tone.

The air extractor I purchased was not my first choice, but it's one less noisy than the Manrose that came out of the box right off the bat - in fact, it's surprisingly quiet. The noise level at 2-meter distance is a whopping 45 decibels, which is comparable to a normal air extractor I bought at the same time with carpet installed. This is actually really quiet.

Installation was a breeze; just two clamps kept the turbine in place on my roof, and it felt much more comfortable than drilling again and again. The cable connection was straightforward, with only three cables and easy-to-understand labels. One feature I loved was that the timer didn't start immediately - instead, it delayed by five seconds, giving me a head start before turning the turbine.

The suction power is standard for this model, but it's still impressive considering the Manrose I returned from. The mirror in my bathroom doesn't fog up as much when showering, and condensation inside the glass window has decreased significantly since installing the extractor. One improvement I'd suggest is adding a dial to adjust the timer - currently, you have to unscrew the top cover.

The design of this air extractor is sleek and modern, with a nice panel that hides the turbine behind it. While there are some minor drawbacks, such as the plastic color being slightly darker than usual (more on this later), I think it's worth it for the benefits it provides. Overall, I'm extremely happy with my purchase and believe I made the right choice by returning the Manrose.

The Xpelair ceiling fan was a neat and well-built unit, but I had some reservations about the installation process. The instructions were lengthy and required multiple readings, which led me to assume they would be straightforward, but ultimately proved not to be. Despite this, the fan itself was reliable and provided adequate airflow.

However, it wasn't until I took matters into my own hands that things started to go awry. A local handyman installed the unit, which was unfamiliar with our specific model and missed an essential item in the instructions. This led me to have to remake everything once he left.

A second lesson came when I realized that reading the instructions themselves wasn't enough; you also need to understand how to assemble dry, ensuring a proper fit between the fan and its mounting points. The problem was exacerbated by a raised line on the motor plate marked LEVEL, which my handyman missed.

To correct this, I highlighted it in pencil and applied a similar marker on the ceiling, which allowed us to get a good alignment. Once secured, we copied the wiring for our previous fan, grey to T, black to Neutral, and brown to Live. Switching it on was as simple as running the shower and increasing humidity.

However, things didn't quite work out as planned. The fan refused to stop, despite various attempts to troubleshoot. After contacting Xpelair's customer support, they advised that I needed to switch two wires over - a move that ultimately resolved the issue but wasn't entirely satisfactory.

A third lesson was learned: do not install the fan cover until you're confident that the humidity sensor is set correctly and the overrun timer has been adjusted long enough. It would be beneficial to have this feature, as it allows for precise control of airflow and temperature settings.

In hindsight, I realize that Xpelair's installation process required a bit more care and attention than just following the instructions. Nevertheless, their excellent customer support was invaluable in resolving some of the issues we encountered during the installation process.

This product has a distinct sound profile that may not be ideal for everyone.

The fan's noise level is relatively low, but some users find it quiet. A notable characteristic is its tendency to protrude about 50mm from the wall when installed with the front cover on. This can create a visual impact and make the overall aesthetic of the room slightly different than expected. Overall, I'd recommend this product for those seeking a reliable and quiet cooling solution, but may not be the best fit for everyone's preferences.
