I needed a longer immersion heater to match my tank, with my old one being half as long as this one and only giving me 3 inches of hot water at the lowest temperature setting - a far cry from what I wanted.

Despite my skepticism about its performance in such a short setup, it was surprisingly easy to install. My previous experience had taught me that shorter immersion heaters didn't heat enough for a bath, but this one seemed different.

When I finally got home and ran a bath, I was blown away by the amount of hot water I ended up with - nearly full after an hour. It turned out that my temperature setting had been woefully inadequate on this heater. To fix it, I'll have to dial it back significantly until I get a new boiler.

It's clear that trial and error is the only way to get the temperature right when using this immersion heater. Once you figure that out, though, the experience is very pleasant - just be patient and take your time getting it just right.
